Wavelet q-Fisher information Measure for signal analysis






Wavelet q-Fisher information was recently shown to be a suitable tool for scaling signal analysis in the article http://www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/14/8/1478. Wavelet q-Fisher information enhances the so-called wavelet Fisher information measure and generalizes it by incorporating a parameter q. Parameter q not only can adjust and refine the analysis, but also helps in associating to wavelet q-Fisher information potential applications for the analysis of scaling signals. Wavelet q-Fisher information can analyze EEG signals in order to better understand the characteristics and behaviour of the human brain. This technique can also be used to analyze ECG signals and in this context propose potential applications to treat in a suitable way heart-related diseases. There is much to do in both situations, but we believe that by the application of these tools significant improvements can be gained. CACICC Research group expects to apply and study these phenomena in the near future in conjuntion with brain graphs. CORE-2012 is receiving Submissions

CORE-2012, a medium level computing conference will be held at Mexico City in November 28-30 at the Center for Computing Research (CIC-IPN). The Conference provides a forum for the interexchange of ideas in the areas of Computing, Signal Processing, Control Theory among others. Submissions are received from now and until August 19th. Jitter and Packet Loss Rate in VoIP Can Also be Modeled by Self-Similar Network Traffic





In a recent journal paper, CACICC members, have recently found that VoIP QoS Parameters, jitter (Defined as the packet delay variation) and packet loss rate follow or can be modeled by self-similar fractal stochastic signals. This finding opens new possibilities in the understanding of this type of traffic and also in the design of novel algorithms such as buffers and codecs that not only take into account this behaviour but also adapt to possible changes associated to this signals. Resumen:

En este curso se trata sobre las ideas fundamentales, componentes e implementación de sistemas de voz sobre IP (VoIP).  Se estudiarán los conceptos de empaquetamiento de VoIP, codecs, swtiches, protocolos, etc con énfasis en su implantación y utilización práctica. Se entenderá el porque las compañias telefónicas se están convirtiendo en compañías que utilizan VoIP y el cómo y porque se obtienen ahorros para organizaciones pequeñas, medianas y grandes. El curso va dirigido para estudiantes con sólidos conocimientos sobre redes y telecomunicaciones, preferiblemente del segundo ciclo en adelante. El curso es impartido por un reconocido investigador en el área de VoIP con numerosas publicaciones en el tema.

CACICC Colaborations starts to work with new article accepted in Journal




CACICC Research group maintains an active colaboration with several domestic and international researchers and institutions. One of these colaborations is with University of Quintana Roo researchers and CINVESTAV with a joint project on active network measurements. The project aims at studying the nature and characteristics of several types of traffic including VoIP, VoD, etc. CACICC also has several projects which are active and include those made with ITESM, CICESE and Univeristy of Salermo. We expect new colaborations and also expect many results from these colaborations. This is the first but not last meaningful result which is also indexed by Thomson's JCR index which guarantees the authors to be in the  national system of reserachers. The first result was presented in journal Mathematical Problems in Engineering and deals with the important and still unresolved problem of scale-invariant signal classification. The article entitled "Distinguishing Stationary/Nonstationary Scaling Processes Using Wavelet Tsallis q-Entropies" proposes a novel technique based on wavelet Tsallis q-entropies to accomplish the classification and based on extensive experimental and comparative studies demonstrates that our technique is superior to current techniques proposed in the literature. CACICC Paper accepted in Ingeniería



The paper entitled "Level-Shift Detection in Communication Network Traffic Traces" has been published by journal Ingenieria, this paper describes a novel methodlogy based on physical information for analyzing scaling processes. The application of these technique to real traces obtained from OWD measurements and also from VBR video traces validates the advantages of wavelet physical information.
